26 - Ed Kemper
Monday Sep 24, 2018
Monday Sep 24, 2018
We've got a heavy hitter this week: Ed Kemper! Known as the "Co-ed Killer" or "Co-ed Butcher", he murdered ten people (including his grandparents and mother) in California between 1964-1973. Standing at a whopping six foot nine inches with a nearly genius IQ, once he chose a victim, there was little chance of them escaping with their life. We cover his sad upbringing, his brutal and disgusting crimes, and then jump into some pop culture references including Cameron Britton's incredible portrayal of Kemper in the Netflix series "Mindhunter". The Highway of Tears is a nearly 500 mile stretch of Highway 16 between Prince George and Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada where countless women have gone missing since 1969. Nearly all of the women have been Indigenous and many believe that racism plays a role in the underreporting of the case. We cover the little facts we have about the 18 most well known missing women and multiple documentaries that bring awareness to this tragedy. Monday Aug 06, 2018
Madame LaLaurie was a New Orleans Creole socialite in the early 1800s who had a thing for murder. She tortured and murdered many of her slaves in the now infamous mansion in the French Quarter. We discuss her history, crimes, and ties to a season of American Horror Story with our new social media manager Elissa! *Disclaimer* We did not know that Elissa's mic was not working properly until about three quarters of the way through the episode and because of time constraints, we could not re-record. A giant THANK YOU is in order for our wonderful mix engineer, Elliot, who was able to save the episode. The system has helped recover hundreds of children since it was created in 1996 and continues to do wonderful things.
